The Grand Finale!
The 2016 Burdekin Water Festival will conclude with the www.myburdekin.com Grand Parade and Mardi Gras on Saturday, September 3rd.
The tradition of the Grand Parade continues with entries now open. Water Festival President, David Cooper, encouraged interested groups to get their entries in as soon as possible. “Getting the entries early allows us to plan better and makes the Parade and set-up for the Parade much easier for everyone; including the participants,” he said.
Participants will be able to assemble on MacMillan Street near Anzac Park from 2pm to prepare their floats and the parade itself will start at 5pm. All participating floats need to be at the assembly area by 4pm to avoid missing out on being a part of the parade.
The Burdekin's biggest party, Mardi Gras will get underway at the completion of the Grand Parade. This year's Mardi Gras features entertainment by local and guest acts, food and market stalls, sideshow alley and much more.
Ergon Energy Kids Korner will also be operating at Mardi Gras. "Kids Korner is a great spot for the younger members of our community to enjoy some free activities including face painting and a jumping castle," Mr Cooper said.
There are also a few surprises to be released later in the week so keep an eye on our Facebook page and here on the site for more information.
